This shows a section through an incisor tooth in its bony socket. It shows the enamel and dentine of the tooth and the central pulp cavity containing blood vessels and nerve fibres. The tooth is held in place by the suspensory ligament. The alveolar bone is covered by the soft tissues of the gum.
